First, following the previous positive reports regarding our economic growth, it was a pleasant surprise to see that Hungary's investment volume is also on the rise. According to reports from the Central Office of Statistics, in absolute terms, investments came to HUF 2,684.4 billion during the period. While construction investments increased by 15.8 percent, reaching HUF 1,601.6 billion, machinery investments climbed 13.6 percent and stood at HUF 1,062.9 billion. It is also worth mentioning that the manufacturing sector investments jumped 28.6 percent, reaching HUF 740.6 billion. Besides, investments in the logistics sector were up 17.1 percent at HUF 496.8 billion, while real estate investments increased by 22.6 percent to reach HUF 452.3 billion.

Second, Hungarians across the country were proud to hear that in 2024 Hungary will be able to send an astronaut to the International Space Station (ISS). According to Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade „this will be another opportunity for Hungary to develop and push forward, focusing on the training of the second Hungarian astronaut to be sent to the International Space Station — which we consider a realistic plan for 2024 — in cooperation with Russia’s Roscosmos”.

Last, the government one again reiterated its stance on migration. At an annual hearing in front of parliament’s foreign affairs committee, the foreign minister stressed that migration is still the number one issue on Europe’s political agenda. Mr. Szijjártó underlined the fact that the countries that go against the mainstream and reserve the right to decide for themselves whom they allow into their territory and whom they wish to live together with still face constant pressure. He also confirmed that unfortunately the idea of a mandatory migrant settlement is not completely off the table and still gets floated regularly, he added.
